Summary of Responsibilities and Core Competencies 

We are currently seeking a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ who is familiar with the financial planning and investment management process and is dedicated to helping take our company to the next level.  This position requires a goal-oriented, self-motivated, and professional person. The primary responsibility will be client retention and reviewing/ presenting client-related financial plan recommendations or implementing processes with all existing clients.  All candidates should demonstrate a desire to network, build relationships, and communicate effectively with people.

As one of the most exciting and fastest-growing firms in the country, all Brooklyn Fi team members will occasionally be asked to perform duties outside of their listed responsibilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full cycle of client relationships from the initial development of the plan to ongoing review meetings
  • Introduce prospective clients to the Brooklyn FI experience and be able to close those relationships
  • Provide advice around stock options quickly to clients who are about to experience a liquidity event
  • Effectively manage client base and assist with management of client relationships
  • Assess client’s financial circumstances and investment objectives
  • Build and deliver comprehensive planning and investment recommendations that align with the individual financial goals and objectives of clients
  • Perform ongoing financial planning analyses, including tax, cash flow, retirement, estate planning, and insurance
  • Effectively coach clients through the Life Planning process to truly understand their goals
  • Prepare and present scenario-based tax projections using Lacerte Income Tax Planner
  • Embrace the investment strategy of the organization, providing education to clients as well as answering their questions and delivering investment recommendations
  • Respond directly to client inquiries received via email and/or phone

 

Experience, Skills and Core Competencies

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CFP® marks (this is a non-negotiable)
  • Familiarity with taxation and planning around equity compensation (ISOs, RSUs, NSOs)
  • 2+ years’ experience developing, positioning, and presenting comprehensive financial plans and investment strategies
  • Strong understanding of tax law beyond the basic CFP® curriculum
  • Ability to provide a high level of authentic service and compassion to client relationships
  • Dedication to high-quality of work and significant attention to detail
  • Strong product knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • A true passion for innovation (you’re excited about learning new software and you learn fast)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, presentation, and computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proactive team player able to work in a fast-paced environment (seriously, we work hard here)
  • Ability to work independently (think through and solve problems on your own)
  • A sense of humor

Nice-to-haves:

  • EA, ECA, CEP, CFA, CPWA, or CPA designation
  • Familiarity with Schwab advisor platform
  • Experience building financial plans in Right Capital
  • Familiarity with the George Kinder Life Planning Program
  • Experience with Lacerte Income Tax Planner

Title: Senior Financial Planner

Type: Full-time

Compensation: $115,000 – $150,000 + variable compensation

Location: Remote, work from anywhere in the world with a fast internet connection and a door you can close

Benefits: Health insurance reimbursement, 401(k), 17 days vacation (+1 for each year of service) + generous paid holiday policy (MLK Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and the week between Christmas and New Years are paid holidays)
