Overview
About Beyond Your Hammock, LLC:
Beyond Your Hammock is an innovative, independent wealth management firm providing fee-only financial planning advice and investment management. We partner with our clients to create and guide them through a wealth management strategy that empowers them to use their money as a tool to live well today while still planning responsibly for tomorrow.
Our goal is to provide every single BYH client with the right system and framework to maximize their financial potential. We exist to help self-made, motivated professionals grow wealth with intention so they have the means to create a life centered around their values. We believe that true wealth management should engage people in a process to get the most from their finances, now and in the future. BYH provides clients with the ability to actually experience their money freely and their resources wisely to tap into more of what they want most.
About the Position:
We are looking to hire a Director of Financial Planning role to take ownership of creating, managing, and maintaining client financial plans at the firm. This person would be responsible for handling client data as pertains to the client’s financial plan and ensuring that information is properly put into our systems (a mix of our own processes + eMoney plan building) and built out into a comprehensive financial plan. The role is best suited for someone who appreciates autonomy and flexibility and prefers working independently versus having a lot of team and client meetings to attend and manage.
Our Director of Financial Planning should be someone who loves taking a pile of nitty-gritty details and data and creating sense and organization from complexity and chaos. This position also requires strong written communication skills, project management experience, and ability to sort and organize competing priorities. Some employee management experience is preferred, as this role will also oversee at least one other team member as part of set responsibilities.
Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to be an essential part of a team, and a high-level critical thinker who enjoys creating and analyzing plans with a preference for working independently. We are looking for a trusted team member who wants to own back office responsibilities and excels in all things financial planning.
- Join an already-successful team with your desire to contribute to the firm’s success and to clients’ long-term goals
- Hone valuable skills as you work with an established financial advisor and a team of industry professionals
- Have the opportunity to grow in your career with a managerial role on a small but growing team
- Drive the planning process forward and take ownership of managing the client service experience through your contribution of technical expertise and analytical skills
This role is not a good fit for someone who prefers in-person collaboration or wants to sit back and observe (versus jump in and make decisions). We are a fully remote team and plan to operate that way long-term. The right candidate will not just be comfortable working remotely and independently, but thrive in that environment and appreciate the freedom and flexibility that can provide.
Responsibilities:
- Create, build, and manage financial plans within eMoney
- Update eMoney and proprietary systems/processes as needed over time as information and data changes within client households (due to job change, pay increase, goal updates, etc)
- Answer client questions via email when clients reach out and develop client-specific financial planning recommendations as needed
- Manage all incoming client data pertaining to financial planning (from pay stubs, equity comp grants, insurance policies, deferred comp plans, etc) to confirm clients provide what we requested and what we need to build and keep financial plans current
- Maintain accurate and updated data sheets for all client households at the firm
- Manage and oversee client service/paraplanning team (currently, that means managing 1 person but the intention is to continue growing the team)
- Establish best practice standards for financial planning advice across the firm
- Stay on top of laws and regulations that impact clients and ensure that the information is passed to the team
- Constantly strive to improve financial planning operations and bring new and innovative ideas to the table
- Open to occasional participation in a segment of a client meeting, if needed, to present or explain a specific aspect of the client’s plan/portal within eMoney
