Overview

The Associate Financial Planner will support the lead advisor in all aspects of the financial planning process, help manage client relationships and participate in client meetings. They will assist with gathering client information, inputting data into planning software, performing analysis, drafting plan recommendations and presenting recommendations in the meeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning Process:
    • Collect, review and enter client data in eMoney financial planning software.  Analyze current financial situation; cash flow, debt, goals, income tax projections, etc.
    • Model scenarios and financial planning recommendations in Emoney.
    • Attend client meetings and present financial planning recommendations to clients.
    • Tax Planning Analysis – Collect tax returns and pay statements, upload returns to Holistiplan, perform analysis and create a forecast for the current tax year.  Analyze income tax projections in Emoney and draft recommendations.
    • Analyze investment allocations and draft recommendations.
    • Analyze insurance and draft recommendations.
  • Meeting Support: Help prepare for client meetings by gathering required documents and creating presentation materials.  Attend client meetings to build a relationship with the end client, explain financial modules, and present recommendations.
  • Business Development: Cultivate relationships with centers of influence (e.g., CPAs, attorneys) and help coordinate marketing efforts to solicit new clients.
  • Compliance: Ensure all financial planning and sales activities strictly align with FINRA, State, and firm guidelines. Maintain accurate electronic documentation in digital files and in Smart RIA.
  • Continuing Education:  Meet or exceed all continuing education requirements to satisfy your designations and regulatory requirements.  To give the best possible client experience it is imperative that we be on top of changing rules, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required.  A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Financial Planning, Economics, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Licensing: Series 65 license, is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.
  • Certifications:  CFP candidate or designation preferred.  MQFP designation required within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Experience: 1 to 5 years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Skills: Slant CRM, eMoney financial planning software, Holistiplan and Microsoft Excel.  Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
  • Military connection (veteran, spouse, child) preferred.
