Summary of Responsibilities and Core Competencies 

The primary function of this role is to facilitate trading and investment management operations, supporting the financial planning team in executing trades, managing model portfolios, and onboarding new clients to Schwab. The day-to-day duties are heavily focused on trade execution, portfolio rebalancing, account transfers, and investment operations workflow. The role also includes preparing account opening and transfer paperwork, and troubleshooting issues with Brooklyn Fi’s planning team and the clients we serve. More time in the role will lead to additional responsibilities such as building financial plans and sitting in on client meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute trades, portfolio rebalancing, and model portfolio updates across client accounts on the Schwab platform and in clients’ held-away accounts under management.
  • Facilitate investment management operations, including account openings, asset transfers, rollovers, and ACAT processing.
  • Process client service requests, including beneficiary changes, address updates, charitable contributions, wire transfers, and other account maintenance items.
  • Implement the firm’s investment strategy, including monitoring model portfolios, placing trades, and ensuring alignment with client investment policy statements
  • Support the Senior and Lead planners in the day-to-day operations of the firm
  • Enter client data in HubSpot CRM, Karbon, and other financial planning tools
  • Attend client meetings, take notes, and follow up with clients
  • Respond directly to client inquiries received via email and/or phone
  • Train other team members to complete investment management paperwork.
  • Generate quarterly billing statements and invoice AUM clients.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing financial planning analyses, including tax, cash flow, retirement, estate planning, and insurance
  • Coordinate with the tax team on tax planning items, mock tax returns, and projections
  • Run Get Organized meetings with clients to ensure we have the necessary documents on file to complete their plan

Experience, Skills, and Core Competencies

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CFP(R) Exam passed and waiting experience to earn CFP(R) marks
  • Experience executing trades and IM operations
  • Ability to provide authentic service and compassion to client relationships
  • Dedication to high-quality of work and significant attention to detail
  • Strong product knowledge and problem-solving skills

Title: Financial Planning and Trading Associate

Type: Full-time

Compensation: $67,000 – $81,000 + company revenue share

Location: Remote, work from anywhere in the world with a fast internet connection and a door you can close
